Your privacy

What you need to know

This notice explains how Ipswich Town Football Club ("ITFC", "we", "us") handles personal data collected through the Supporters Clubs network and this website. It is written to comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

Ipswich Town Football Club is the data controller for personal data processed through the Supporters Clubs network. You can write to us at:

Ipswich Town Football Club,
Portman Road,
Ipswich, IP1 2DA

2. What data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity details — name, age bracket where relevant.
  • Contact details — email address, postal town, phone number.
  • Branch membership enquiries and applications.
  • New branch applications and organiser details.
  • Forum posts, replies and watch-party RSVPs.
  • Photos and stories you choose to submit.
  • Technical data — IP address, device and browser type, cookie identifiers.

3. How we use your data

  • To put you in touch with your local branch organiser.
  • To review and approve new branch applications.
  • To run the members' forum, watch parties and branch events.
  • To send you supporter-services updates you have asked for.
  • To keep the site secure and fix problems.
  • To meet legal, safeguarding and regulatory obligations.

4. Lawful basis

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

  • Consent — for optional communications and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — to run the supporters' club network, respond to enquiries and keep the site secure.
  • Legal obligation — for safeguarding, accounting and statutory record-keeping.

5. Who we share data with

  • Branch organisers — to respond to your membership enquiries.
  • ITFC supporter services — for application reviews and policy queries.
  • Trusted service providers — hosting, email delivery, analytics.
  • Authorities — only where required by law or to protect safeguarding interests.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for third-party marketing.

6. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out above. Membership enquiries are retained for up to two years after last contact. Branch application records are kept for the lifetime of the branch plus seven years. Forum posts remain visible while your account is active and are removed or anonymised on closure.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we have mishandled your data.

8. Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies to make the site work, and — with your consent — optional analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie banner. See our Cookies Policy for the full list of cookies in use.

9. Contact us

For any privacy or data protection questions, including requests to exercise your rights, contact ITFC supporter services at the address above or via the main Ipswich Town FC website. We aim to respond within one calendar month.

10. Changes to this policy

We review this privacy notice at least once a year and update it whenever our processing changes. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
